0: “A Lost Man Found”
The summer breeze rippled through the warehouse as he
opened up a window. Light peered through on my eyes forcing me to shield them
as I was trying to lift my hands I realized I couldn’t. I squinted as I looked
down to see that I still had ropes tied to me. What the hell? And where was I!?
My vision became clearer and I saw a man with sandy blonde hair walk over to a
table with papers on it and a box along with a pen. That’s when I realized that
I wasn’t alone and that there are two other persons with me.
“Honestly Joe are you sure he’s the one we are looking
for?” the sandy blonde hair guy asks Joe.
“Seriously Charles? I’m no Sherlock but I can guarantee you
that I am the best detective there is. Now are you going to go through this or
not? I don’t want my agency to find out about this shady business that you are
putting me through.” Joe said while letting out a sigh of frustration.
“For the last time Joe my family isn’t shady and I do
appreciate your help! But was tying him up necessary?” Charles asked Joe and
shook his head but Joe’s face turned into a gigantic smile.
“Meh it wasn’t necessary per say but he wasn’t
responding well and lashed out on my guys. Hey he even knocked Conner unconscious!”
the smile faded and as I began to speak I just heard muffled noises coming from
my mouth. That’s when I realized that my mouth was ducked taped. Who are these
crazy people!? I rolled my eyes only to see the Charles and Joe looking at me.
“And I see our victim is awake” the grin returns on his
face making me shoot daggers at Joe while Charles walks over to me only to stop
two feet away.
“Sorry to scare you Marco but according to Joe your
encounter with him was a little rough” Charles said…wait how did he know my
name? He dug into his trench coat pocket to produce a Swiss Army knife which
got me scared. Are they going to kill me? Torture me into information that I
wouldn’t know? Didn’t these two buffoons only know I was an 21 year old
community college student from Little Rock, Arkansas! Speaking of which WHERE
THE HELL WAS I!? I sure wasn’t about to get killed right here and there so I kicked
around in my chair hoping I could knock that knife out of his hands.
“And you wonder why I sedated him! But then again
pulling a knife out of your pocket isn’t the idea meet and greet huh?” Joe took
something out of his pocket something I couldn’t recognize. He walked over to
me but Charles only held up his hand to stop him.
“Don’t” he said to Joe who looked at him in frustration.
I was happy my vision returned to normal as I was able to get a good look at
these two. Joe was a little bit shorter than Charles and he also looked a
little bit younger as well. He had short black hair and deep grey eyes. He also
wore a matching trench coat like Charles did.
“Seriously Char! If you release him like this he’s just
going to bolt to the door and then all our hard work would be lost!” Joe shifted
in his feet and I recognize the thing he was holding in his hand a syringe. Specifically
a sedative syringe. My eyes grew wide at what he was trying to do…oh God not
again! I continued to kick my feet at him only for Charles to tell Joe to put
the syringe away. He signed and did what his partner told him to do.
Charles came closer to me and I continued to kick my
feet. “Hello Marco” he began in a friendly voice that sent my blood to go cold
and my feet to stop kicking.
“My name is Charles Rayford and this is my best friend
and detective Joe McKenzie. We are very sorry to have startled you like this
but we have been looking for you for a very, very long time Marco. Okay now
that the introductions are over I am going to take the tape off your face” he
did as he said and took the silver duct tape off my face gently. I was actually
glad Charles did and not Joe for I fear that he would have ripped it off only
to see me in pain. HELL YEA I WAS FINALLY FREE…to talk but hey it’s a start.
“WHERE AM I” I demanded and Joe placed his hands over
his ears as I knew in some way shape or form that I was not back in my home
town of Little Rock.
“You’re in the sunny city of Los Angeles, California” my
eyes were glued on Charles but it was actually Joe who I refused to look in the
face…actually that guy scared the crap out of me. He was the one who sedated me
in the process!
“Okay second question: why where you guys trying to look
for me?” I asked no one in particular this time.
“B-because” Charles began he ran his hand over his face
trying to come up with an answer that could give me enough information but at the
same time not enough. And low and behold he did.
“I’m your brother” I was honestly shocked, shocked so
much that I began to laugh as it was the only way for me to calm down. My
brother? M-my brother ha! Last time I checked I was an only child left at the
tender age of six to fend for himself and live off the lands of Arkansas. ALONE.
I continued to laugh and began to roll in my chair. I laughed and laughed until
my world began to fill in darkness.
