~HGW Chapter 3.1 "That Day Part I~

~Sophia’s P.O.V. on “Mother May I?”
I honestly knew that things would not turn out so well. I knew but I still went into that room knowing my heart would be broken. Knowing that all of my son’s hard work to find my lost son would be in vain. But I had to make up for what happened that day 15 years ago. That day the Rayford Empire rose…and the day I lost…everything.
~December 24th, 2000~
I was staring out the window in our old estate as I was staring out at the moonlight. I felt in my bones that something terrible was going to happen to day. So far the year had gone smoothly. So far my husband and I have been making gigantic power gains in the economic world. Since we had such good success in the past year we decided to host a Christmas party with our close friends and family. No business inquires no media just us and our family. I was startled when another figured appeared in the glass window blocking my view of the snow filled backyard. I felt a hand come around my waist only to find it being my husband Avery.
“What’s wrong dear?” he asked me and I shook my head and pulled into his embrace.
“Don’t give me that Sophia your as pale as a ghost!” I contemplated on what I should tell him. Should I shake my head again? Or should I just tell him the truth about the feeling I had in my gut? I let out a sigh and decided to tell him.
“I-I” I began but I couldn’t conform coherent sentences…maybe he was right and something was wrong. I hadn’t eaten anything all night even though some of the food was some of my favorite Christmas dishes. All I’ve been doing is sipping on sparkling water which is rare for me because I usually drink something…else.
“Darling?” my worried husband asked me again but for some reason I couldn’t respond. I heard him call my name over and over again but nothing came out of my mouth.

I continued to shake Sophia as she stood there frozen. Ever since this Tuesday something has been off about her. She hasn’t eaten, she barely slept (she would get up and start to sleep walk which I am aware she hasn’t noticed thank heavens…but that is still scary). I felt the blazing eyes of all our party guests on me and before I could come up with what I could say I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Is everything alright Ave?” a familiar voice asked me. I turned for a brief second only to see my second cousin Allen and his wife Carmella smirking behind me. Carmella however, had general concern on her face. I didn’t have time to deal with these two! My wife was sick and I knew I should have taken her to the doctors weeks before when she started sleep walking.
“Yes, Sophia is sick! She has been all week” I decided to tell the truth because they could help me maybe even phone the doctor or something.
“How long has she been sick? Since this evening or all week?” Carmella asked as she walked towards Sophia and touched a hand to her forehead.
“Oh my gosh! She’s burning up…we have to take her upstairs!” I did as she instructed I keep forgetting that Carmella is a registered nurse and Allen was a doctor. With no time to spear I picked up my wife only to turn around and see the faces of my guest with either concern, worry, or horror on their faces.
“Now, now don’t fret everyone. I am sorry for the inconvenience but Sophia is feeling under the weather and will retire to her room. Please continue to enjoy the party” I was about to wave but then I realized that I still had my wife in my hands so I just headed out of the living room and upstairs to my bedroom. I was aware of the extra footsteps that followed me from behind.
~Sophia’s P.O.V~
“F-fire!” I screamed as my vision turned from darkness to a glowing light that started to rapidly spread throughout my eyes.
“FIRE!” I screamed again as the estate began to go up in flames in my vision. I tried to escape the darkness but my screaming headache wouldn’t let me. A bucket of water appeared before me as I floated down the street. I picked up and threw it at the bush that was burning…but wasn’t turning to ash. I screamed again as I looked into the window and found my six year old son Markus playing on the burning swing set.
I jolted awake to find myself in a pitch black room as I heard screams and shouts from somewhere unknown. How did I get here? I ask as I began to sit up a little shakily. I calmed my hand only to jump back on the bed as another hand pulled me backwards.
I screamed my usual high pitch scream as my attacker continued to grab hold of me. It shaked me as I continued to struggle against its tight grip. My attacker began to say something but I bit his hand before he could finish.
“HOLY MOTHER OF JOSEPH!” the voice said as he turned on the light. I was shocked and disgusted with myself as I found a bruised Avery glaring daggers back at me.
“I’m so sorry” I began but he held up his hand to silence me that’s when I noticed the state of the bed room and the state of Avery. He couldn’t have gotten that big purplish bruise on his eye just from me slapping him. My face changed to horror as I saw Carmella knocked out on the floor with a pool of blood formed around her.
“This isn’t a time for questions right now my dear. We need to get out of this house and quick! We need to go and rescue Markus! We don’t have much time either” I didn’t argue as he opened the window and I grabbed his hand. That’s when the smell of smoke from my dream began to fill my nose.
“But the house is on fire! The guest are down there!” I said but he just shook his head and I let his hand fall on my waist as he climbed the vine ladder down the house avoiding the burning edges.
“Where is my SON!” I demanded from him but he didn’t answer. He pulled me along and ran across the yard and I saw my sister Ameila and her husband Claus in their car.
“Take her and hide her” my husband said as he opened the door but I shook my head no. I wanted to go with him! My son needed me and my house was burning and my husband wanted me to run?

“No questions asked you hear me?” Ameila and Claus both exchanged weird looks and Claus nodded all the same before opening up the door and pushing me inside. Many questions popped into my throbbing head the main question was: where was MAKRUS?
(NOTE: This is supposed to be Tuesday's update)
