~HGW Chapter 3.1 Part 2 "The Day"~

~Present Day: 15 Years Later~
I never really knew what had happened after that but what I did find out is that Avery’s cousin Allen would be going to jail for the next 20 years for kidnapping. And another thing I had known was that I lost my son and husband all that day. My husband didn’t die he just simply came back to the estate and couldn’t recall what happened at all that day. Either he didn’t remember or he was simply shielding me from the truth. Because when we were reunited he brought Allen and Carmella’s kid and told me that we were adopting him.
I didn’t and couldn’t accept him at first. Did my husband honestly think I would? He would never replace Markus! I was cold to that child because his parents were the reason I my son wasn’t with me that day. Well the years went by and I had no choice BUT to accept him and I did and Charles wasn’t a bad kid. Over the years that incident began to slowly fade from my memory until that was until a few days ago when I saw my ghost of a child in the foyer with Henry.
It was a Tuesday evening and I had just gotten home from visiting Avery in the hospital. Recently it was discovered that he had a very severe illness and that’s why I asked Charles to secretly track down Markus (who I learned goes by the name of Marco now) without my husband’s knowledge.
I was at the mirror putting in my pearl studs in my ears when I decided to walk through that room and introduce myself. Charles said it was a bad idea but I shrugged him off. He was standing behind me now with a grim expression on his face.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked me and I turned around a little irritated.
“If I wasn’t sure I wouldn’t be putting on my Sunday best on a Tuesday!” I snapped at him only for him to roll his eyes at me…which is a big pet peeve of mine forcing me to glare at him.
“S-sorry mam” he stammered and I continued to glare…after all these years I still didn’t like him.
“Your dismissed” I said with a little more venom then necessary. He bowed like a gentlemen and walked through the double doors.
“HENRY!” I yelled as I gave myself one final look in the mirror and approved myself of my overall look. When I didn’t get a response out of him I decided to start walking towards the room.
“Is he here?” I asked again as I hesitated to open the door. I knew this was it the moment I have been waiting for since that fateful day fifteen years ago. That day where I lost everything and my life became broken. That day I lost two important men in my life. That day I lost myself to a curse called insanity. I opened the doors and there I saw him. My son Markus “Marco” Rayford. I gave him a warm smile as I stared at my boy up and down. He instantly reminded me of Avery even though he dyed his blonde hair to black. He just looked like a normal teenage boy…did I want to take that life away from him? His normalcy?  I began to open my mouth to speak but then I noticed that he started to tremble the rage clear on his face.
“Good day dear!” I said trying to sound warm and inviting instead he just gave me a frown. I folded my arms as I began to walk over to Marco but before I could reach he got up and pushed the cart of food out of his way knocking it over and making me step back.
“Marco” I pleaded as my emotions began to spill over. Why was my son upset with me? Okay I knew why he was upset with me but still it wasn’t my fault. His eyes shot daggers at me as his body continued to spit rage out at me Henry walked over to us as a maid came in to clean up the mess but he shooed her away.
“Young Master this is Sop-“ was all Henry managed to say before Marco walked backwards and headed to the door.
“First off. I am not your long lost stupid young master. And two I know who this woman is. I don’t care how many millions of dollars you spent tracking me. You’re seriously claiming that you are my mother? If you are I loathe you. How could you fucking abandon a SIX YEAR OLD! You are a poor excuse for a parent and mother and I refuse to take over this stupid empire of yours. I rather sit and watch it crumble beneath my feet” I ignored his rage as I was trying to lock eyes with my son to calm him down but I failed. The emotions that I was fighting back finally overcame me and the tears spilled out of my eyes.
“Marco” I said again and reached out a hand to him but he smacked it away. I knew it was foolish to think he would accept me so I decided to spill out the lie I was rehearsing in my head instead of the truth.
“P-please understand I was young and I had just started my career” It was a lie of course but I didn’t want him to know a truth I only knew half of!

“It’s not like you gave me up when I was a baby. You gave me up when I was SIX FUCKING YEARS OLD!” He pushed me out of the way at the end of that argument and ran through the doors I came out of. I was appalled at myself. I knew I should have went with Avery all those years ago and reclaimed my son. I knew I should have tracked him down sooner than later. And now I knew what I had to do: fix the damage that he has done.

~HGW Chapter 3.1 "That Day Part I~

~Sophia’s P.O.V. on “Mother May I?”
I honestly knew that things would not turn out so well. I knew but I still went into that room knowing my heart would be broken. Knowing that all of my son’s hard work to find my lost son would be in vain. But I had to make up for what happened that day 15 years ago. That day the Rayford Empire rose…and the day I lost…everything.
~December 24th, 2000~
I was staring out the window in our old estate as I was staring out at the moonlight. I felt in my bones that something terrible was going to happen to day. So far the year had gone smoothly. So far my husband and I have been making gigantic power gains in the economic world. Since we had such good success in the past year we decided to host a Christmas party with our close friends and family. No business inquires no media just us and our family. I was startled when another figured appeared in the glass window blocking my view of the snow filled backyard. I felt a hand come around my waist only to find it being my husband Avery.
“What’s wrong dear?” he asked me and I shook my head and pulled into his embrace.
“Don’t give me that Sophia your as pale as a ghost!” I contemplated on what I should tell him. Should I shake my head again? Or should I just tell him the truth about the feeling I had in my gut? I let out a sigh and decided to tell him.
“I-I” I began but I couldn’t conform coherent sentences…maybe he was right and something was wrong. I hadn’t eaten anything all night even though some of the food was some of my favorite Christmas dishes. All I’ve been doing is sipping on sparkling water which is rare for me because I usually drink something…else.
“Darling?” my worried husband asked me again but for some reason I couldn’t respond. I heard him call my name over and over again but nothing came out of my mouth.
~Avery’s P.O.V.~
I continued to shake Sophia as she stood there frozen. Ever since this Tuesday something has been off about her. She hasn’t eaten, she barely slept (she would get up and start to sleep walk which I am aware she hasn’t noticed thank heavens…but that is still scary). I felt the blazing eyes of all our party guests on me and before I could come up with what I could say I felt a tap on my shoulder.
“Is everything alright Ave?” a familiar voice asked me. I turned for a brief second only to see my second cousin Allen and his wife Carmella smirking behind me. Carmella however, had general concern on her face. I didn’t have time to deal with these two! My wife was sick and I knew I should have taken her to the doctors weeks before when she started sleep walking.
“Yes, Sophia is sick! She has been all week” I decided to tell the truth because they could help me maybe even phone the doctor or something.
“How long has she been sick? Since this evening or all week?” Carmella asked as she walked towards Sophia and touched a hand to her forehead.
“Oh my gosh! She’s burning up…we have to take her upstairs!” I did as she instructed I keep forgetting that Carmella is a registered nurse and Allen was a doctor. With no time to spear I picked up my wife only to turn around and see the faces of my guest with either concern, worry, or horror on their faces.
“Now, now don’t fret everyone. I am sorry for the inconvenience but Sophia is feeling under the weather and will retire to her room. Please continue to enjoy the party” I was about to wave but then I realized that I still had my wife in my hands so I just headed out of the living room and upstairs to my bedroom. I was aware of the extra footsteps that followed me from behind.
~Sophia’s P.O.V~
“F-fire!” I screamed as my vision turned from darkness to a glowing light that started to rapidly spread throughout my eyes.
“FIRE!” I screamed again as the estate began to go up in flames in my vision. I tried to escape the darkness but my screaming headache wouldn’t let me. A bucket of water appeared before me as I floated down the street. I picked up and threw it at the bush that was burning…but wasn’t turning to ash. I screamed again as I looked into the window and found my six year old son Markus playing on the burning swing set.
I jolted awake to find myself in a pitch black room as I heard screams and shouts from somewhere unknown. How did I get here? I ask as I began to sit up a little shakily. I calmed my hand only to jump back on the bed as another hand pulled me backwards.
I screamed my usual high pitch scream as my attacker continued to grab hold of me. It shaked me as I continued to struggle against its tight grip. My attacker began to say something but I bit his hand before he could finish.
“HOLY MOTHER OF JOSEPH!” the voice said as he turned on the light. I was shocked and disgusted with myself as I found a bruised Avery glaring daggers back at me.
“I’m so sorry” I began but he held up his hand to silence me that’s when I noticed the state of the bed room and the state of Avery. He couldn’t have gotten that big purplish bruise on his eye just from me slapping him. My face changed to horror as I saw Carmella knocked out on the floor with a pool of blood formed around her.
“This isn’t a time for questions right now my dear. We need to get out of this house and quick! We need to go and rescue Markus! We don’t have much time either” I didn’t argue as he opened the window and I grabbed his hand. That’s when the smell of smoke from my dream began to fill my nose.
“But the house is on fire! The guest are down there!” I said but he just shook his head and I let his hand fall on my waist as he climbed the vine ladder down the house avoiding the burning edges.
“Where is my SON!” I demanded from him but he didn’t answer. He pulled me along and ran across the yard and I saw my sister Ameila and her husband Claus in their car.
“Take her and hide her” my husband said as he opened the door but I shook my head no. I wanted to go with him! My son needed me and my house was burning and my husband wanted me to run?

“No questions asked you hear me?” Ameila and Claus both exchanged weird looks and Claus nodded all the same before opening up the door and pushing me inside. Many questions popped into my throbbing head the main question was: where was MAKRUS?

~HGW Chapter 2: "Mother May I?"~

~Chapter 2: Mother May I?~
Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. That’s all I was being right now. I knew I was being stupid because Henry was looking at me cross-eyed right now. I mean who laughs at this type of situation really? I let out a sigh and raked my hands through my hair. It took me a few minuets to adjust what was going on here. The Legend: Charles Rayford was actually adopted? And I the abandon Marco whatever my last name was is actually a Rayford. Wow. If only my best friend Jugo could see me now.
“Are you alright?” Henry asked me after about five minuets of silence.
Yes I am alright considering the fact that you are telling me that Marco whatever his last name is, is actually the long lost son of the Rayford Enterprise” I rolled my eyes and continued eating my pasta.
“Whatever your last name?” He asked me making me groan in frustration.
“Yeah. See my supposed mother if you are implying that it’s the Miss Sophia Rayford herself just dropped me off in Arkansas one day. No birth certificate. Marco isn’t even my real name” I finally admitted to Henry. Marco was a name given to me by my best friend Jugo and lost kids. (That’s another story for later ladies and gents). I watched as a guard give him a manila envelope and took out a piece of paper and handed it to me. I hesitated at first to open it but then I decided to break the sea.
It was a document containing information of my childhood from the time I was born to 15 years ago when I was abandon by that woman. That’s where the information stops until around eight months ago. I took the picture of the copper colored child with black hair and amber eyes only for more pictures to fall out underneath. There was one of that child on his first birthday with a man and woman by his side. I tossed that one to find another with that same kid trying to learn how to ride a bike. There were more and more pictures one from the first day of kindergarten to winning a contest for art or something. I trembled as I pulled out a picture of a man who looked twenty years younger than Henry with the same amber eyes as mine. And a woman hunched down with her shoulders over a three year old child.
I was hesitant to flip over the back as I noticed before that there were dates and descriptions of each event.
Young Marco and mother Sophia and father Avery on his first day of pre-school. I knew it was rude but I threw the picture on the floor and began to tremble.
“No” I said to no one in particular especially Henry who looked at me with concern. He had been quiet the whole time I was stifling through the pictures. I was broken from my trance when a voice called from the door.
“Henry?” the unrecognizable voice asked but Henry tried to shoo them off…which failed.
“HENRY!” The voice said again and Henry gave me an apologetic look as he opened the two double doors.
“Is he here?” the voice grew louder as well as the sound of high heels on the ground. I recognized the voice as a woman a voice anybody from the country could here. The owner of the highest selling beauty products in the world. A woman who owns her very own mall. This woman is also my mother and she is also the one who abandon me. Sophia Rayford. Her warm smile is the first thing I saw and I nearly gasped as she was a carbon copy of me. From her long black hair to her high cheekbones. To her round eyes to her heart shaped face. My trembling became more rapid. How could this woman who abandon me all those years ago face me with a smile?
“Good day dear!” she said happily but all I could do is frown at her in disgust. She folded her arms as she walked over to me but before she could reach I got up and pushed the cart of food out of my way knocking it over and making her step back.
“Marco” she pleaded with sad tear filled eyes. This woman dare states my name? My eyes shot daggers at her unable as I tried to calm myself down. Henry walked over to us as a maid came in to clean up the mess but he shooed her away.
“Young Master this is Sop-“ was all Henry managed to say before I walked backwards and headed to the door.
I rather sit and watch it crumble beneath my feet” I didn’t realize that my eyes were avoid her gaze. But when I looked up at her all I could see that the tears that formed in her eyes finally spilled.
“Marco” she said again and reached out a hand to me but I smacked it away. Seriously though? How could she ever think that I would accept her?
“P-please understand I was young and I had just started my career” I rolled my  eyes at her. So that was the reason she gave me up? Because she couldn’t handle me?
“It’s not like you gave me up when I was a baby. You gave me up when I was SIX FUCKING YEARS OLD!” I pushed her out of the way at the end of that argument and ran through the doors she came out of. I was immediately smacked into the kitchen and I analyzed the area I was in. I found a set of double doors and walked through before walking to another sitting area to find Charles and that idiot Joe. They were looking at a map or something when Joe looked up and saw me and glared.
“Did you have to be so loud?” he said rubbing the back of his head. My face grew red with guilt as I turned slowly to my “brother” his expression was unreadable and I couldn’t help but feel more guilty. But ignored it.
“Where is the exit? This house is maze!” I threw up my arms to symbolize how big it is. Joe looked at Charles but he didn’t meet his gaze.
“Why do you want to know where the exit is?” he asked me and I just glared at him again.
“That’s none of your business now is there?” I asked him and he just shook his head. I growled in frustration at Joe.
“I want to L-E-A-V-E there are you happy?” I asked and I rolled my eyes again at Joe who continued to shook his head. I looked at Charles who exchanged Joe’s glance.
“Well I hate to break it to you but you can’t leave” he said before sitting down in a red velvet chair. My anger intensified.
“What DO YOU MEAN I CAN’T LEAVE!?” I asked them this time Charles let out a breath before he began to speak. He also pulled out another manila envelope similar to Henry but it had the Rayford seal on it.
“As of today you are property of the Rayford family. Well not property but you’ve been claimed” I let my mouth fall to the floor. Property? Was I seriously property to these assholes?
“What do you mean?” I said stupidly.

“Sophia Rayford has claimed you as her biological son.” I sank down into a couch as I began to tremble in fear. How could this have happened to me?

~HGW Chapter 1: "Welcome to Los Angeles"~

~Chapter 1: “Welcome to Los Angeles”~
I felt like my head had been smashed by a semi-truck…that’s how bad it hurt right now. I mean GOD! What really are those “sedatives” that Joe put in me…speaking of Joe everything was coming back to me a bit. I remember walking home from school, being confronted by a strange man in a trench coat claiming he located my family. Pfft as if I was an only child left alone to die. And if they really where my family why did they abandon me? Next I remember laughing like crazy cause that’s why I do when I get nervous or scared I laugh and it makes me look like a psycho but I don’t care. Then that’s when all the crazy shit happen like a gang of three to six guys surrounding me. I tried to fight them off or run to but they caught up to me and knocked me out.
Then fast forward twelve hours later and I am in an abandon warehouse somewhere in Los Angeles, California…holy cow! I’m in California! Well right now I didn’t know where I was once again thanks to that maniac Joe and his wonder drugs. I knew I had to be in a transportation device right now because I was moving and I saw roads and trees pass by pretty quickly…from what I could see lying strapped to the back of the seat of a car! A car! I tried to get up only to be pinned down by rope. But this time I noticed the lack of tape. I heard voices talking only to assume that they are those two idiots who got me in this mess in the first place. Charles Rayford and Joe McKenzie. With nothing else to do and I found struggling pointless I arched my head to the passenger seat to listen in on the conversation. Did I mention I like to eavesdrop?
“I’m glad this shit is over and done with now I can go back to my cozy office and work on the homicides that have been popping up like crazy now!” Joe says and waves his hands in the air…ugh I am stating this now I. HATE. JOE.
“Joseph you should be thanking me from taking you away from all those homicide cases. You’re a detective you should let the police handle those cases” I looked in the rearview mirror and saw Charles roll his eyes. He stopped and locked eyes with mine. Joe began to open his mouth only to look into the direction of Charles’s eyes.
“Oh look the golden boy is awake” Joe says as he yawns. I glare at Joe through the mirror. I swear when I get out of here the first thing I am going to do is punch him in the jaw.
“Unless you want to use up all your sedatives today instead of on someone who needs them I suggest you stop aggravating the boy!” The car screeched as Charles made a wide turn and the outside turned from the blank night sky and a half dozen cars to the eerie woods of a forest. I shuddered at the sudden change in location as a loud grumbling came from my stomach.
“And besides” Charles began with a smirk on his face “I would watch out before my little brother eats you” a glare formed on my face at his statement.
“First off I’m not your little brother” I said in response only to look at a hurt expression from Charles.
“Secondly I would take you up on that offer to bite Joe’s head off” the frown on Charles’s face turned into a wide grin. Joe on the other hand had horror written all over his face.
“As if I would let you eat me! I have a flood ton of sedatives in here that could kill you within five seconds so I would hush up and go back to sleep until we arrive at the mansion” I saw Joe pout as new questions formed in my head: what’s the mansion? Well I obviously knew what a mansion was but whose mansion was it and why was I going there? I decided not to ask because I knew I wouldn’t get any answers so I just took Joe up on his advice and closed my eyes and went to sleep.
It was three in the morning well according to the clock on the dash board it was when I was awoken by the sound of car doors being opened and closed as well as voices engaged in an argument. I couldn’t hear them speak so well as their voices where muffled. I did hear the sound of footsteps walking up a gravel path and a door to a house being knocked on…ARE THEY LEAVING ME IN HERE? I did the most stupid thing I could do and sat up in my seat only to be pinned down again making my already throbbing head ache with pain. I groaned what seemed like hours until the doors opened up on both sides of me as men in black suits surrounded the car. Its like stepped in a mob movie or something.
“Your scaring the child Henry” I heard Charles say to this mysterious Henry as everyone looked the exact same. My head continued to pound and God I missed Joe’s wonder drugs to subside the head ache…please don’t tell me I am becoming an addict already. If I mentioned this before than I mentioned it again I. HATE. JOE.
My stomach grumbled again as a bodyguard or a guard of some sorts grabbed my arms and pulled me roughly helping me out of car. More like forcing me out of the car as, as soon I was out I tumbled to the ground and heard some noises that was similar to laughing.
“The next person I hear laugh at the Young Master will be fired do you understand me?” I heard a voice say it sounded like a man I assumed it was this mysterious Henry person. And wait did he just call me the Young Master?
“Release him now who knows what that idiot Joe put him through!” If my head didn’t feel like hell right now I would give that man a high five. He like me hated Joe…or Joseph which was his real name apparently. The man who helped me out of the car took a pair of scissors and cut the rope around me. I again did something stupid by springing to my feet only to fall back down on the ground do to the blurriness of my vision.
“Don’t just sit here help the Young Master up!” a different guy helped me up and steadied me as I walked up the pathway and into the door. I wasn’t able to see the outside of the house to know it was a pretty huge mansion. The foyer was the room that we walked to and man was it a sight to see. There was gigantic chandelier hanging from the ceiling it was gold plated with what looked like candle holders but was actually just light bulbs.  A massive rug in the middle held a single table with white flowers and similar tables sat adjacent to the big white fireplace. To top it all off to my right a gigantic spiral stair case led to the second and I assume third floors. I closed my mouth which had opened and squealed like a little girl who just saw her favorite boy band in concert. Gosh I needed to get a life.
I heard a cough and footsteps which snapped my head back to the situation at hand. I had been kidnapped and was now in Los Angeles, California and so far my “brother” Charles and that psychopath Joe was nowhere in sight. The only person who stood before me along with about eighteen guards along the wall was an older man with salt and pepper hair as well as a white mustache. He looked to be about sixty to seventy years old maybe older. I looked at him and realized I was sitting down on a gold and red couch. I tried to sit up but the dizziness had overcome me. The older man snapped his fingers and a maid with brown hair came in with a tray filled with those mini sandwiches with cucumber and ham and such. Well I hated cucumber but I was to hungry to let all this perfectly good food go to waste. As the maid began to pour tea…I hate tea but oh well I picked up one of the sandwiches only to eat another and another before the old man began to speak.
“I’m glad you’re enjoying the food. I forgot to tell the Head Maid that you were allergic to cucumbers” the old man said as I picked up another tiny sandwich this one with ham and mayo. Before I bit into it I began to speak “I am not allergic to cucumbers” I stated before taking a bite.
“I just hate them” I said through a mouth filled with food. The old man laughed assuming that what I had said was funny which I didn’t find that amusing myself. I grabbed the cup of tea which turned out to be Green tea which I didn’t mind since I could eat or drink anything I could get my hands on right now.
“I am sorry for the late introductions Young Master but my name is Henry and I am the Rayford family’s personal butler as well as master of the house. I also want to apologize for the way you have been treated I understand that Sir Joseph has been a little rough with you?” he asked and I nodded I hated Joe and I hated that he called him Sir Joseph. Bleh.
“I know that you have many questions for us and before you ask them I would like to inform you that you are the lost master to the house of Rayford and the sole heir to Rayford Enterprise” I put down the sandwich that I was eating. Me the sole heir to Rayford Enterprise? WAIT RAYFORD ENTERPRISE!? Everybody who is anybody knows what the company is. Founded nearly a decade ago yes only a decade back in 2010 the company has become the oil tycoon everyone envies. The company has been so successful they have branched out to other mediums such as real estate and commercial businesses. Me the sole heir that wasn’t possible…was it?
“That’s a funny joke old man. I thought the oldest son inherited stuff like that and clearly if I assume Charles is the oldest where I am concerned” I pick up the sandwich I was eating and took two more bites only to realize that was the last one and frowned. Henry frowned and snapped his fingers before another maid walked in with a plate of pasta and I found my mouth watering. She took out a chunk of parmesan and started grating it on my plate. I held up my hand and she stopped and walked out the door. That’s when I began to devour my plate man I was hungry.
“Your older brother is currently running the business but a few months ago with Avery Rayford fell ill he came out with a secret that only those in the household know. That secret is you Marco” I looked up from my plate in confusion.
“That still doesn’t make any sense!” I began to whine as my pasta fell out my mouth.
“Obviously Charles has to be what five or six years older than me! Therefore he gets the inheritance and the business…well I assume there is inheritance. Since he is the first born son” I stopped eating to look at Henry’s reaction. Only to hear him let out a sigh of frustration.
“Charles is the oldest son but not the heir to the Rayford Empire. YOU are the heir as you are Avery’s only child” my mouth gaped open as I heard the news. Like I stated before everyone knew who Charles and Avery Rayford where two men who would make even a mafia boss cry.
“W-what does that mean?” I said as my hands begin to shake as I realized what he just said. And if I am correct that means that Charles is not Avery Rayford’s son he is not my brother. Half-brother maybe?

“You are the only son to Avery and Sophia Grace Rayford and their son Charles is adopted” the only thing I could do in the situation was laugh.

HGW Prologue: "A Lost Man Found"

 0: “A Lost Man Found”
The summer breeze rippled through the warehouse as he opened up a window. Light peered through on my eyes forcing me to shield them as I was trying to lift my hands I realized I couldn’t. I squinted as I looked down to see that I still had ropes tied to me. What the hell? And where was I!? My vision became clearer and I saw a man with sandy blonde hair walk over to a table with papers on it and a box along with a pen. That’s when I realized that I wasn’t alone and that there are two other persons with me.
“Honestly Joe are you sure he’s the one we are looking for?” the sandy blonde hair guy asks Joe.
“Seriously Charles? I’m no Sherlock but I can guarantee you that I am the best detective there is. Now are you going to go through this or not? I don’t want my agency to find out about this shady business that you are putting me through.” Joe said while letting out a sigh of frustration.
“For the last time Joe my family isn’t shady and I do appreciate your help! But was tying him up necessary?” Charles asked Joe and shook his head but Joe’s face turned into a gigantic smile.
“Meh it wasn’t necessary per say but he wasn’t responding well and lashed out on my guys. Hey he even knocked Conner unconscious!” the smile faded and as I began to speak I just heard muffled noises coming from my mouth. That’s when I realized that my mouth was ducked taped. Who are these crazy people!? I rolled my eyes only to see the Charles and Joe looking at me.
“And I see our victim is awake” the grin returns on his face making me shoot daggers at Joe while Charles walks over to me only to stop two feet away.
“Sorry to scare you Marco but according to Joe your encounter with him was a little rough” Charles said…wait how did he know my name? He dug into his trench coat pocket to produce a Swiss Army knife which got me scared. Are they going to kill me? Torture me into information that I wouldn’t know? Didn’t these two buffoons only know I was an 21 year old community college student from Little Rock, Arkansas! Speaking of which WHERE THE HELL WAS I!? I sure wasn’t about to get killed right here and there so I kicked around in my chair hoping I could knock that knife out of his hands.
“And you wonder why I sedated him! But then again pulling a knife out of your pocket isn’t the idea meet and greet huh?” Joe took something out of his pocket something I couldn’t recognize. He walked over to me but Charles only held up his hand to stop him.
“Don’t” he said to Joe who looked at him in frustration. I was happy my vision returned to normal as I was able to get a good look at these two. Joe was a little bit shorter than Charles and he also looked a little bit younger as well. He had short black hair and deep grey eyes. He also wore a matching trench coat like Charles did.
“Seriously Char! If you release him like this he’s just going to bolt to the door and then all our hard work would be lost!” Joe shifted in his feet and I recognize the thing he was holding in his hand a syringe. Specifically a sedative syringe. My eyes grew wide at what he was trying to do…oh God not again! I continued to kick my feet at him only for Charles to tell Joe to put the syringe away. He signed and did what his partner told him to do.
Charles came closer to me and I continued to kick my feet. “Hello Marco” he began in a friendly voice that sent my blood to go cold and my feet to stop kicking.
“My name is Charles Rayford and this is my best friend and detective Joe McKenzie. We are very sorry to have startled you like this but we have been looking for you for a very, very long time Marco. Okay now that the introductions are over I am going to take the tape off your face” he did as he said and took the silver duct tape off my face gently. I was actually glad Charles did and not Joe for I fear that he would have ripped it off only to see me in pain. HELL YEA I WAS FINALLY FREE…to talk but hey it’s a start.
“WHERE AM I” I demanded and Joe placed his hands over his ears as I knew in some way shape or form that I was not back in my home town of Little Rock.
“You’re in the sunny city of Los Angeles, California” my eyes were glued on Charles but it was actually Joe who I refused to look in the face…actually that guy scared the crap out of me. He was the one who sedated me in the process!
“Okay second question: why where you guys trying to look for me?” I asked no one in particular this time.
“B-because” Charles began he ran his hand over his face trying to come up with an answer that could give me enough information but at the same time not enough. And low and behold he did.
“I’m your brother” I was honestly shocked, shocked so much that I began to laugh as it was the only way for me to calm down. My brother? M-my brother ha! Last time I checked I was an only child left at the tender age of six to fend for himself and live off the lands of Arkansas. ALONE. I continued to laugh and began to roll in my chair. I laughed and laughed until my world began to fill in darkness.
